Dear Friends in Room 9-
The kids in Room 8 just finished their school year today. We only had a half day of school. Most of it was field day. We did lots of fun things like toss the potato, throw wet sponges at people, run an obstacle course, have a foot race, and even had snow cones.
I'm going into hibernation for the summer. But don't worry, I'll be back in September!

Time with Alyssa
Alyssa took me home yesterday. I was so excited, because she told me that we were doing really fun things this weekend.
Today, we went shopping. Alyssa got some new clothes. We also went to a friend's house.
Alyssa's room was being redone. It finally got finished. She moved in today. It looked awesome!

Life with Ryan
On Friday, Ryan went to Boy Scouts. They taught him how to make a fire. Then we went home because Ryan had to get ready for track. His friend Sascha picked us up. We ran around the track. Then Ryan had to go to his baseball game. Ryan hit a ball, but they lost. So we ate dinner; then went to bed.
Saturday, we slept in. Then we got up and ate breakfast. We went out to play on the swings for a half hour. Ryan's grandma took us to WalMart to buy some food. When we came back we had lunch. After I read two books, Ryan asked if he could play on the computer. We played bowling for three hours. Then we watched tv until dinner time.
Sunday, we went to church and learned about God for an hour. Then Ryan's cousin came over for the day.
I had a good time with Ryan.

Principal Gets a Pie in the Face
Benjamin told me he was going to throw a pie at the principal. I told him, "You'll get in trouble!" Benjamin explained that his class had rasied over $1,500 in the jogathon, so his class got to throw a pie at the principal. I asked him what a jogathon was and he told me that people pledge the school money for each lap you run. Then you had twenty minutes to run laps around the gym. Benjamin got whipped cream all over the principal's hair and face.
It turned out that Benjamin was the top fourth grader in the state at the vocabulary competition and had won two books. Today was busy!

Cardinals Cool Adventures with Pete!
When I went to Peters place, I had a very cool time. I spent a lot of time in Peters room watching him get in and out of bed and playing Poke'mon and reading Captain underpants books. They are Peters favourite books. Anyway now onto the fun bits.
On Saturday Peter took me to McDonalds for breakfast, Peter let me even have some bites out of his bacon and egg muffin. He ate two hash browns and two hot chocolates!! Petes Mum had a bagel and coffee and his sister Sarah had hot cakes.
.jpg)
Then Peter quickly ran into the bookstore to see if they had the new captain underpants book in yet ( the terrifying return of tippy tinkletrousers) Try saying that 10 times fast!! They didnt have the book in yet so Peter took his book voucher that he got for his birthday to another bookstore and he bought "What Bumosaur is That?" by Andy Griffiths.
Peter still had $2 left so we went and bought a toy Boog from a vending machine.
Later Peter took me to visit his cousins for tea. When we went home it was dark and we saw two policecars going real fast with their lights and sirens on.
My next person to visit is Peters neighbour Sam so I guess I will be seeing a bit more of Peter!

A visit with Henry to the hospital
Henry, his Mum and I walked in the main entrance of the hospital and then we went to the childrens ward. Henry got into his PJ's, they had stripes on them.
Then Henry got wheeled into the lift and taken to meet his Doctor. He gave Henry a mask to put on my friend Garfield.
Then Henry had to lay on the operating table. The doctor put a clip on Henry's toe. Henry's Mum took me to see his Gram. When Henry woke up he saw stickers on the roof. Henry got wheeled into the lift again. This time you could go in one door and when you got to the floor you wanted you could go out another door. When Henry got back to his room he was allowed to watch TV. His Dad came to see him. Henry got to eat a sandwich and some yoghert. It was hard for him to eat because he had 3 teeth taken out.
He was really brave.
When we left the hospital we got to go and pick up his new glasses.
He looked really good in them.

Brandon's Backpack
Today, Brandon woke up at 6:25, like always, and got ready for school. Brandon's favorite activity at school is math, and he is the farthest in his math class. Most of the 24 hours, I spent in a dark backpack. After school, Brandon's pool at his house was finished. He was crazy enough to get in the cold, cold, cold water. Brrr!

A night at Skye's house
27th to 29th April 2007
I went to Skye’s house for the weekend. Skye lives in Teapot Valley, near Brightwater.
On Saturday I went to the Richmond Aquatic Centre swimming pool with Skye and Rebecca.
Then I went to a park called Washborne Gardens in Richmond.

On Sunday Skye got invited to Olivia’s house to play, I
came too. Then Olivia was invited to come motor biking at Skye’s house.
While Skye and Olivia got ready for motor biking I played with Nikki the sheep
and helped Skye’s Mum pick saffron.
Skye’s Mum has a saffron plantation and grows saffron to sell to restaurants. Saffron is a spice.
Once Skye and Olivia got ready for motor biking Skye took me for a ride on her motorbike.

Busy Time
May 7
Today, I went home with Sascha. We rode the bus home and we talked about things like her family's golf cart that they go up and down their mile long driveway. When we got home, we ate dinner. Then we went to gymnastics. Sascha swung around the bar and did all sorts of flips and back flips. It was very exciting. She also went on the beam. Then we went home and went to bed.
May 8
Sascha and I woke up and went to school this morning. After school, we went to softball practice. Then we went to the spring program. The kids dressed up like people from Asia and sang songs from around the world. After that, we went to theater practice. Finally, we went home and to bed!
May 9
When we woke up this morning, I was still tired! Sascha is a busy girl! I wonder what we're going to do next? We went to school and then theater again. Tomorrow, I'll go home with someone else.

Time with Jessie
May 3
Jessie's friend, Mirella, came over. She said that I was cute. She was funny. Mirella did a back flip and I was amazed! Then we went to Bingo night. I saw Josh and his sister there. Afterwards, we dropped Mirella off, and then went home.
May 4
Today, we had to clean house because Jessie's cousins are coming over to visit while her mom is at the post office. She had to clean her room and the living room. I asked if I could help. Soon her cousins came. They visited for two hours and we went to Vista House.
May 5
Jessie and I watched tv and cleaned some more. We watched Princess Diaries 2. Jessie said that it was going to be really good and it was! Then we played with Jake, Jessie's brother. He worked on a model airplane for the whole rest of the day.
May 6
Today is my last day with Jessie. We watched tv and played video games, such as Dream Life and Scooby-Doo. Then Jessie and I went to play outside. We rode the horses. Then we went home and went to bed. Who will I be with next time?

Battle of the Books
I went to school with Ashley today. In the afternoon, we went to the Battle of the Books. Two of our fifth/sixth grade classes competed in the final competition to see who could answer the most questions correctly about twelve books they had read. After that, Ashley and I went to play practice. Our class (and the two other third and fourth grade classes) are presenting a program called Seven in a Boat. We are singing songs from around the world and performing a play about Japan. Our parents will all come next week on Tuesday evening to see the show.

A night with Rachel
I came home to Rachels house. We were in a huge rush because it is Cubs night and Rachels Mum had to go to work. Rachel quickly did her chores and got into her cub uniform.
Whlie she was getting herself organised I visited with Rockie in his cage. We had quite a long chat about the weather and where we're from. He kept saying "Rachel" and "Quick".
I went to the Brightwater Cub pack. While I was there I played spotlight. We also listened to stories about the childrens holidays and they did some great skits.
I showed excellent manners at Rachels house so her Mum thought I deserved a certificate.

Hail, Softball, and Water
Gabrielle and I were sitting on the couch looking out the window at a storm. Then, all of a sudden, hail started pouring down. We jumped up and ran to tell her sister Brianna.
The next day, Gabrielle and I were at softball practice throwing the ball. Then her coach Katie told her she was going to hit off a pitcher named Taylor. Gabrielle got her bat and helmet and went to home plate. Taylor pitched the ball and Gabrielle hit it into the outfield. She ran all the way to first and then to second. She got a double!
Today, Gabrielle and I had a water-balloon fight with Cameron. We threw four balloons at him and they splashed all over him.

Cardinal on holiday
Hi all,
It sounds like Kiwi is having a great time with you all.
I have been on holiday for the last 10 days and won't get to see all the class again until next Monday. I have spent a couple of days away with Mrs Williams this holidays. We went over to Takaka, about 2 hours away for a day trip with her children. We went to an animal farm, caught Salmon for tea and went to a beach for lunch. We had a great time but I'm looking forward to catching up with all the childrens adventures.
Will be in touch again soon

Today, I went home with a girl named Haley. She was very nice. She introduced me to her sister, her mom, and her dad. Then we had dinner from Kentucky Fried Chicken. We watched some t.v. Then we heard her mom say that it was time to read. Then we went to bed. Everyone said good night.
The next day, Haley and I played lots of games, like basketball, vollleyball, and soccer. We had a good time. Her mom made lasagna and lots of side dishes. For dessert, we had pie and ice cream. That night, Haley and I studied her vocabulary words and got ready for the Jog-a-thon. I didn't know what that was, so Haley explained that you jog for the p.e. period. Family and friends pledge money for each lap. The money is going for a computer lab for the school. I wished Haley good luck.

Vacation with Morgan
March 25, 2007
Today, we went to Lincoln City where Morgan's beach house is. We ate breakfast and went to the beach. We brought plastic bags and gloves. Morgan and Bethany (her sister's friend) helped clean up the beach. But the others wouldn't help. After our bags were full we came back to the beach house.
Then, when Morgan's little brother and sister Ethan and Natalie went to sleep, Morgan, Haley (Morgan's sister), Bethany, and Morgan's dad went miniature golfing. Miniature golf is a fun game. First, you take a small ball and put it in a smaller hole than the ball. Then you take a club. A club is a pole about three feet long with a little metal block and a grip at the top. You try to hit the ball into another hole. On the last hole, Morgan got a hole in one! That is when you get the ball through an obstacle in one hit. She got a pass to play free next time!

Morgan and I were awakened by a song. Morgan told me that it was her birthday. She got a lot of presents.
March 29, 2007
Today, Morgan played with her presents. She liked them a lot. She didn't have as much time to play with me, but Natalie did. She hugged me a lot.

A trip to Caitlins

Hello Room 8
Caitlin and I biked home from school on Tuesday, but that's not all. Soon as we got home we had bounces on the tramp.
It was getting a little too hot outside so we came inside and had a drink and some afternoon tea. I was really lucky because I got a piece of chocolate and caramel slice, which was really yum! At 4pm I was excited because we were going horse riding. I rode Bugsy behind Caitlin. Caitlin's Mum took photos of me.
I saw Rachel and William there. After 1 hour we got hot and sweaty. Caitlin's Mum unpacked and was cooking lasagne and we watched Garfield on TV. My favourite part was when Jhon was in bed and Garfield jumped on him, then he woke him up. We went to bed at 8pm and slept till morning. Caitlin put me under a flannel in a shoe box to sleep.
On Wednesday I heard we were going swimming at the aquatic center. Before we went to bed Caitlin asked me why I don't wear any clothes. I told her it was because I was a bird. She made some clothes for me. On Friday I had boysenberry jam on my toast for breakfast.
We got dressed and walked to school. We really had fun. After school we went to the pool and played till 6pm. Caitlin and I were in the spa first. We found a ball and played till her Mum told us to get out.See Ya

Today, I got to go home with a girl named Laura. My favorite part of the day was seeing a calf being born. It was fun! Laura, her brother, and I went to go feed the cows. When we were feeding them, we all saw a cow lying on the ground and saw two small hooves hanging out. We waited and waited until the calf came out. It was very small and wet.
Then we went home and Laura did her homework. At bedtime, her mom read to us and prayed. After the lights were turned out, Laura turned on some music. I looked up and saw some stars on her ceiling. Finally, Laura and I fell fast asleep and dreamed happy dreams!

Peter's place
Hi again,
It's me Cardinal. Well today I am visiting Peter. Peter took a photo of me sitting on his tennis racket when we went to tennis lessons.

At Peters house I had my picture taken in his sister Sarah's toy pram.
The next day I went on a bike ride and left at 6:45 in the morning,
then we got ready for school. It was quite boring at school because there was no one in Room 9.
I am away to camp at Bethany with the children tomorrow so I need lots of sleep tonight.
Good Bye.

Girl Scouts and More
Taylor took me into the cafeteria after school. "Girl Scouts," she said. They do activities and sell cookies to raise money to do more activities. When all the girls came in, Taylor set me down on the table. They started running around and playing tag. They ate cookies with green sprinkles on them and drank strawberry-kiwi or strawberry-banana juice. Then they played animal tag. Someone is IT. She tries to tag you, but if you don't want to get tagged, you squat down and say an animal. Like monkey, moose, or ferret! It was fun to watch.
After Scouts, Taylor went with her friend Delanie to basketball practice. Taylor made some awesome shots! They divided into two teams and played a game. Taylor's team won. Yahoo!
Then, we went to Delanie's house and played for hours. We spent the night.
The next day, Taylor's mom picked us up. When we got to her house, Taylor's grandpa was there babysitting Taylor's little sisters. Rhiley is 8, Abby is 6, and Olivia is 5. Grandpa had bought gifts for everyone. Taylor got two of My Littlest Petshop Animals; a fish and a cat. They are little animals with wobbly heads. Taylor has over 40 of them.
Later, we went upstairs to Taylor's room, which she shares with all three of her little sisters. She did her homework.
The next day, we got up early for a basketball game. I was excited! As we were driving in the car, Taylor showed me the Columbia River. Taylor's team won the game 20-9. Taylor scored half the points. Since each shot counts for two points, that means that Taylor made five shots. Taylor's aunt was at the game with her baby named Korbin, who is only a few months old. Taylor was so happy that she won!
Today, Taylor sat with me on her colorful bed. She said that it was our last day together. I wonder who I will go with tomorrow?

Cardinal hangs out with Lydia

Hi Room 8
I had a fantastic time with Lydia. We went for a swim in the river and it was so hot that we had an ice cream. We went to her Nana's house to have tea, because it was her birthday. For tea we had pizza and I had a little piece too. On the way home we played eye spy. I said, " I spy with my little eye something beginning with l. It was lollipop because we got a lollipop from her Nana. My flavour was Strawberry.
Next Lydia showed me her new helmet and it is so cool. Lydia rode her bike and I sat on her shoulder and the wind nearly blew me off, but I quickly held on to Lydia's ear. Lydia said, "Ow, that hurt", because I pulled it very hard.
Then Lydia brushed her teeth and then she made me a bed and we went straight to sleep.
Thanks Lydia

Cardinal goes home with Adam
In the weekend I went to Adam's house. It didn't take long to get home because he lives quite close to school. We went to the park to play lots and lots. Adam to me to McDonalds for a burger and fries. It was really tasty. McDonalds was in a mall in Richmond.
We went to Adam's Dad's work. He works at Tallys on computers. Tallys catches and sorts fish.
I went to Dovedale, about 30 minutes drive to watch Adam's brother play cricket. He lost but did great.
It was great meeting Adam's family.
Good bye
Cardinal.

Adventures with Alyssa
"I'm sorry this bus ride is so long," said Alyssa. "It's almost an hour, so it's going to be a long wait. Just sit back and relax." Alyssa and her family live at the Bonneville Fish Hatchery. Her father is the foreman there. They live very near the dam.
"Kiwi, we're almost home. I'm so excited to tell Mommy. Oh, be careful around my little sister Myah. She can be very annoying! If she grabs you, I will be sure you don't get hurt." I was happy to hear Alyssa's kind words and lightened up. Just a little.
When we got home, Alyssa walked up a driveway to a small white house with green around it. Alyssa opened the door and shouted, "Look, Mom! I got to take home Kiwi. "
"Oh, how cute! said a little girl much smaller than Alyssa.
"Myah! Give Kiwi back!" The little girl quickly gave me back. I noticed the name of the girl and recognized it to be the Myah that Alyssa told me about. I shuddered. Alyssa unpacked her backpack and did her homework. Then she ate dinner and did some more homework.
It turned out to be a wonderful day at Alyssa's house.

Kiwi Arrives in Corbett!
The kiwi arrived in Corbett, Oregon, USA, today. After much anticipation, we opened the envelope to greet him. Lots of oohs and aahs from the crowd. He is adorable! He has gone home with a student on his first visit. We hope to post another entry on Monday, detailing his adventures.
A visit to Brandon's
Yesterday after Brandon's Mum picked me up from school we went to see Brandon's Doctor, Doctor Osbourn.
I watched Brandon get his ears checked with an ear torch. Then Brandon's doctor talked to him about not getting his ears wet for two or three weeks.
In the morning Brandon and I walked to school together. We had fun walking together. So we got to school and did the same old thing.
After Brandon and I got picked up we went to his Poppa's friends, Herb.
I saw Brandon's 3 cows and watched Herb bale Hay with a hay baler.
There was also a dog there too.
Well that is just about it for my adventures with Brandon.
Good Bye

Cardinal
What do Cardinals eat ? Do they eat seed or friut or some sort of other food?Where are most Cardinal s found? Why don't Cardinals live in NZ?
My first day at shcool !
Hi room 8, I have had 1 full day in room 9 . I have been around the school today.
Lydia, Caitlin and Jacob took photos of me on the awesome back playground.
They took another one on the bars, and one in the little tree out back.

There are 10 classrooms at Brightwater School and the teachers seem to be nice.
The children are really lucky because they have lots of space to play and a pool to swim in.
The children have been really nice and friendly and are happy to play with me.
I am going to stay at Brandon's house tonight.
I think I will like it in New Zealand
